Trump-Biden Presidential Debate Expected To Draw 80 Million Viewers Plus Prop Betting Interest

Earlier this month, Donald Trump’s presidential odds took a hit following his trial and felony convictions. But as the former president prepares for his first debate in four years against current U.S. President Joe Biden on June 27, plenty of pundits are expecting more watch and wager action on Trump. And plenty of intense arguments.

Trump is currently the -150 favorite to win the 2024 presidential election with Biden +130 odds as the underdog, both down slighly in recent days.

While betting on politics is not legal through any U.S. leading online sportsbook, there are still some benefits to wagering offshore. Select offshore sites like BetOnline offer presidential odds, prop bets and wagering on the presidential election and debates through an online platform.

Wagering with offshore betting sites is not recommended if you’re in the U.S., as they aren’t regulated like U.S. sportsbooks. But for the tens of millions of sports fans in the biggest states of California, Florida and Texas and a dozen U.S. states that don’t have legalized sports betting, it’s more common to set up an offshore account online and place sports bets along with futures and prop bets on politics.

The June 27 presidential debate is expected to draw more than 80 million viewers – not quite matching the 2024 Super Bowl, but significant numbers for a presidential rematch. In the first Trump-Biden debate in 2020, more than 73 million people watched at least some of the debate, according to Nielsen Media Research. That was the third most-watched debate in history behind a record 84 million people that watched the first debate between Donald J. Trump and Hillary Clinton in 2016.

About 6 in 10 U.S. adults say they are “extremely” or “very” likely to watch the debate live or in clips, or read about or listen to commentary about the performance of Biden and Trump in the news or social media.
