‘I don’t talk about whether we are different or not’published at 13:45 British Summer Time 19 September
West Ham v Chelsea (Sat, 12:30 BST)
West Ham United
West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui was asked whether he was concerned about comments made about the club’s style of play not being any different to that under previous manager David Moyes: “I don’t talk about whether we are different, or not. We try to do our way. We try to develop our idea. For that the commitment of the players is key. They try to work hard every day. It is about the time it takes to develop, but also for sure you have to win, which helps you to believe more and to be stronger and stronger. That’s why we work to win each match.”
More from Lopetegui on the level of commitment shown by his players: “They are working very hard every day. This is the first step they need to develop. With this commitment, I am sure that step-by-step we are going to improve, we are going to compete better. But that platform is very important to allow you to win matches. We are keeping the good feeling the team has, while trying to improve on other things.
“All teams have things they need to improve and we are in this phase. You have to look at the end of the season where you are. The Premier League is a very long season, a very hard season. You have to compete in all different kinds of matches, different moments, so we have to be ready to be very competitive in all the season.”
