West Ham vs Liverpool predictions
Liverpool’s 3-1 Boxing Day win over relegation-threatened Leicester City saw the Reds extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool now has 42 points from 17 matches. As a result of their lead, Arne Slot’s team are now 1/3 to win the Premier League.
Furthermore, Liverpool is unbeaten in their last 22 in all competitions, and their last 13 in the Premier League.
Leading Liverpool’s charge towards the league title is Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian notched his 16 Premier League goal of the season in the Red’s win over Leicester. Salah is now three goals clear of Erling Haaland (13) and four of Cole Palmer (12) in the race to win the Golden Boot.
Salah is not only scoring, he is also creating chances. The 32-year-old has 11 assists to his name. More than any other player in the English top flight.
Despite this, his contract wrangle with Liverpool still goes on. But it obviously isn’t affecting his form. If anything, it is improving it.
There is the possibility of some squad rotation on Sunday given the hectic schedule over Christmas.
But it’s unlikely Salah will be rested. In Slot’s system he isn’t being asked to make lung busting runs back to defend. The facts are, Salah is being utilised perfectly.
That doesn’t mean he is immune from squad rotation, but the chances are Slot will want Salah playing in the Premier League matches, especially in tricky away fixtures like this one against an improving West Ham.
On paper, things are looking better for West Ham. They won 1-0 away at bottom-of-the-table Southampton on Boxing Day. The win sees them move up to 13th in the table, with 23 points from 18 matches.
But despite being four matches unbeaten, Hammers’ boss Julen Lopetegui is still a man under huge pressure.
It’s not that long ago that West Ham conceded five in a chastening first half against Arsenal at the London Stadium. They followed that 5-2 home loss with another poor display, this time losing 3-1 away to Leicester City.
Lopetegui survived the following so-called ‘El Sackio’ match by beating Wolves 2-1 in London. That was far from a convincing win. But it did the job.
The win over Wolves was followed by what looks a decent point in a 1-1 draw away at Bournemouth. But Lopetegui’s team somehow managed to turn it into a negative.
The Hammers went ahead after 87 minutes, but were desperately hanging on for a point after the Cherry’s equalised just three minutes later and then laid siege to West Ham’s goal throughout stoppage time.
West Ham made it three without defeat by holding Brighton to a 1-1 draw at home. They then picked up three points with their 1-0 Boxing Day win away at Southampton.
That was apparently another must-win match for Lopetegui. And again, it was a less than convincing win with West Ham second best for the majority of the 90 minutes.
Another poor performance and result against Liverpool will see the Spaniard come under even more pressure with the January transfer window just around the corner.
West Ham vs Liverpool betting tips
West Ham’s recent form may look good on paper. But the performances haven’t been the most convincing.
Liverpool did struggle at times in the first half of their 3-1 win over Leicester and an improvement will be needed to get a result at West Ham.
But the bottom line is, it’s almost impossible to oppose Liverpool at the moment. Read more of our West Ham vs Liverpool betting tips below:
Draw/Liverpool and between 2-4 match goals
Liverpool are in great form. They don’t look like slipping up. As a result, they are just 9/20 to beat West Ham.
But as we know, the Christmas fixtures in England can be energy sapping and teams can drop points.
Furthermore, West Ham’s results have improved in recent weeks. They are four matches unbeaten, winning two and drawing two.

Whether their performances have been good or not, going on an unbeaten run will improve confidence in Lopetegui’s team. So Liverpool need to be on song to pick up the three points.
As a result, we are backing Liverpool and the draw in the double chance market and combining it with between two and four match goals.
This bet covers a 2-1 or 3-1 win for the Reds. And it also covers a 1-1 or 2-2 draw should Liverpool be slightly off form – which is understandable over the hectic Christmas period.
⚽ Draw/Liverpool and 2-4 match goals at 5/6 with bet365 ⚽
Both teams to score (Yes) and over 2.5 goals
Liverpool has conceded in their last four in all competitions. They have also conceded ten in their last four road trips in the Premier League.
The Hammers have scored in their last seven in the Premier League. The last team to shut them out was Everton, and they have kept clean sheets against far better teams than West Ham this season.
⚽ Back yes in both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at 4/5 with Casumo ⚽
Mohamed Salah to score anytime
Even money on Mohamed Salah to find the back of the net in his current form simply can’t be missed.
West Ham are poor at the back. And even if they are on song, it will be impossible to prevent Liverpool creating chances for Salah.
It’s just a question of whether he is clinical on the day.
⚽ Back Mohamed Salah to score anytime against West Ham at 1/1 with Spreadex ⚽
