After reportedly losing money in online gambling, a 25-year-old youth made an attempt to immolate himself in Beloor village of Bidar district on Thursday.

The victim identified as Vijaykumar J. Holle is a Pharmacy student.

According to the police, Vijaykumar, who was addicted to playing online games, lost more than ₹1.5 lakh and was debt-ridden due to his obsession with online gaming.

Vijaykumar, who suffered maximum burns in the attempt, was shifted to the District Hospital for treatment.

Mehakar Police have registered a case. They are trying to ascertain the total amount Vijaykumar lost in online gaming.
